Winter Workwear

Image
Office wear doesn’t have to be a suit or a blazer combo. My work days consist of a lot of admin stuff, going to photoshoots, admin procedural stages and data input. (A total daily routine change!) I usually wear a dressy sweater or a cardigan over a button-up. My office encourages Casual Fridays style for Administrators. But no gym outfits.  Here’s a dressier look for me. Now that it’s colder, I wore this outfit with tall boots. I kind of like this look. Plain pieces but with a bit of extra. Like my pleated faux leather skirt.  Shop the photo links below for my whole outfit. MILLY VEGAN LEATHER SKIRT My skirt is from Milly. I was in Vancouver and went into a specialty shop and couldn’t help but splurge on this piece. I just held it at my waist and next thing I know I was putting the receipt in my wallet. But it’s so worth it. I just use Girl Math.  OAK & FORT Black turtlenecks need a place in every woman’s wardrobe. When temperatures drop, I reach for mine. Not that I only have on

Favourites of the Month

Now that winter is showing up, my Winter weekly faves are making a daily appearance! 👇🏻 BURBERRY ZIP-UP HOODIE There’s something luxurious & comforting about this hoodie. I can’t get over the simplicity yet show-offy way the checkered signature print tells you “I’m at that stage in life where I’m comfortable.” I linked the latest version of this hoodie that I own. I got mine in 2021.  CHANEL LIP BALM IN INTENSE  What I love about it?  The way it gives a subtle hint of colour and keeps my lips super soft and smooth. The winter season can be unforgiving to my lips. But this one is a life and time saver. I feel super pampered when I pull it out of my pocket or my bag and swipe it on Chanel style.  LOUIS VUITTON ARSTY MM BAG One thing I love about this bag is how iconic it is. A roomy bag to fit all of my stuff. I love the handle stitching and how mine is getting that honey patina that’s a very LV signature. Anyway, I can’t seem to justify getting another one from this brand. It’s a

Friday Five

Image
Beauty really is fleeting. Well, at least beauty in my makeup bag. Though I do love my tried-and-trues, it’s fun to experiment and it’s super calming/ exciting to be discovering new products that really work.  Here are my new five faves: Laneige Perfect Youth Serum Laniege describes this  as a  powerful serum with ginger root, tripeptide, and antioxidants designed to address the five visible signs of early aging—in as little as seven days.   I will have to agree. I started using it and in less than a week, I saw a significant improvement- softer and brighter skin is what I see in the mirror. I’m hooked.  Ingredients:  Water/Aqua/Eau, Glycerin, Propanediol, Alcohol Denat., Hydrogenated Poly(C6-14 Olefin), 1,2-Hexanediol, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Squalane, Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Carbomer, Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Butylene Glycol, Cetearyl Glucoside, Fragrance/Parfum, Ethylhexylglyc

Foolproof your style any season

Image
Neutrals are the best foundation of a classic and foolproof wardrobe. For me it’s always blacks and grays. Add the ever essential denim and I’m set for every season. Many fashionistas try to avoid wearing black or grey in the warmer months but it’s easy to incorporate black and grey into your Spring and Summer pieces.  My basic Spring/Summer pieces: With good basics, you’ll have endless options. I kick each piece up a notch by adding something trendy. Like accessories in summer colours like this bag from Urban Planet. Or a favourite piece from Louis Vuitton. “My style is simple, girly with a bit of an edge.” My Makeup Essentials Simple outfits are better with simple makeup. I think it’s just natural and practical to have your go-to skincare and makeup stuff all the time in your handbag. It’s like a comfort blanket. Like my fave lip products. Either one of these does the perfect job of maintaining my lips soft and nourished.  With good basics, you’ll have endless options. ❤️ Maria .

6 Things you should forgive yourself for

Image
Tuesday Reflection 1. Forgive yourself for not accepting yourself completely You and I both know that there are many people out there who aren’t really happy with who they are and what they are, who always criticize themselves and always compare themselves with others. We will never be happy if we continue living our lives this way, and before we can even consider changing the way we think and the way we perceive ourselves, we need to learn how to forgive ourselves for all the time we spent ignoring our own beauty and our own greatness. 2. Forgive yourself for constantly seeking approval in all the wrong places It’s never too late to start seeking for approval in the right place, it’s never too late to start getting approval from the right person, which is YOU! All the approval you will ever need is your own approval and not the approval of those around you. For so many years you have lived your life believing that if THEY like you and if they praise you, you are worthy and if

Casual Days

Image
We all look forward to the weekend. Friday morning comes and we think TGIF ! What I realized is that I never really plan my weekend outfits. I don’t stress on what jeans to wear, or what makeup to use. Everything just comes together. Monday to Friday outfits are usually what challenges us. What do I wear on Monday in case there’s a company meeting? How about Tuesday? A full office day so do I wear comfy jeans since I will be sitting in front of the computer all day.  This outfit is what I usually pull out of my closet when we decide to go out for brunch and pick up stuff we need at the mall. I sometimes wear my Converse high tops in black or my Common Projects boots. But I do try to find reasons to wear my Mulberry Stud Boots here, especially during below zero degree temperatures.  I am in the process of simplifying my wardrobe. It is very rewarding to not have to look at your closet and think that you need more clothes. Then go out and buy more which might not even be worn as much. I

In my Makeup Bag

Image
I love watching WIMB videos on YouTube. I made one about a year ago with my Speedy 30B and it was a very rookie version. I don’t know why I kept looking at the camera. Maybe a WIMMUB video would be a possibility in the future but for now, I’ll bring you this post with my LV Toiletry 19. It has been serving me well and I try not to obsess about it. The purpose of this pouch is multi-functional: organization, compactability© (that’s not an actual word in the dictionary- I made it up), visual enjoyment. It can hold many things but honestly not a bottle of 100ml perfume.  First thing in my pouch is my LaMer Tinted Moisturizer. I prefer a tinted moisturizer in the colder months over my serum because I sometimes find layering to much product does more harm and discomfort than good. It’s easy to touch up too. I find that using my fingers to spread the product is better than using a sponge or brush because it’s essentially a moisturizer with some colour in it. In the middle of the day, I use
