Friday Five

Beauty really is fleeting. Well, at least beauty in my makeup bag. Though I do love my tried-and-trues, it’s fun to experiment and it’s super calming/ exciting to be discovering new products that really work.

Here are my new five faves:

Laneige Perfect Youth Serum

Laniege describes this
as a powerful serum with ginger root, tripeptide, and antioxidants designed to address the five visible signs of early aging—in as little as seven days.
I will have to agree. I started using it and in less than a week, I saw a significant improvement- softer and brighter skin is what I see in the mirror. I’m hooked.

The Liquid Silk Canvas: Featherweight Protective Primer

This weightless liquid primer protects skin from pollutants and makeup while helping your look go on better and last longer. Tatcha is a brand that I have loved ever since they first launched the Water Cream. And because the Tatcha creator is Asian, I was immediately drawn to the brand. Ok cheesy. But I think it’s because she understands Asian skin. And she created the products so it will be amazing on all types and  skin colours no matter what culture you are. I tried the balm but I find this liquid silk one is best for my skin. It’s the perfect version for combination skin especially if your skin tends to be oily mid day around your T-zone. Hooked for life.

Burberry Runway Eye Palette

The Runway Palette is a nine-shade eye shadow palette that captures the essence of the classic yet eccentric Burberry look in matte, shimmer and metallic finishes. I have had my eye on this palette since it launched and I was ecstatic that the brand is available at Hudson’s Bay. My favourite shades in this palette are the shimmery beige-pink and the shimmery mocha on the top left corner. It gives my eyes that natural shimmer and definition. Lasts all day at work. My next purchase will be the brand’s mascara and lipstick. It’s kind of a great makeup bag refresh to have these beauty staples.

What I also love about the brand’s makeup line:

  • Paraben-free
  • Phthalate-free
  • Mineral Oil-free
  • Sulfate-free

How to use:

Application: The palette contains nine eye shadows to shade, enhance, smoke, illuminate and add a final metallic touch.
  • Beige and Brown — matte textures to shade and sculpt the eyelids.
  • Tan and Burgundy — shimmery medium shades to enhance the eyes.
  • Dark Brown and Dark Burgundy — shimmery deep shades to smoke the eyes.
  • Light Camel — a shimmery shade to illuminate the inner corners of the eyes.
  • Gold and Vermilion Red — flashes of metallic colour for a final luminous runway-inspired touch.

Dior Nail Glow

This product has been my nails’ saving grace since I first discovered it in the late 2010’s. I can’t live without it. My nails crave it. It’s a pretty transparent pink that seems to melt away dry cuticles with just the first swipe. Add more layers and your nails look like they have just gotten fresh manicures. This is a wonder product for busy moms who can’t seem to have their regular manicures as needed.

Ingredients: Butyl Acetate, Ethyl Acetate, Nitrocellulose, Adipic Acid/Neopentyl Glycol/Trimellitic Anhydride Copolymer, Acetyl Tributyl Citrate, Isopropyl Alcohol, Acrylates Copolymer, Benzophenone-3, Fluorescent Brightener 367, Ci 15850 (Red 7 Lake), Adipic Acid/Fumaric Acid/Phthalic Acid/Tricyclodecane Dimethanol Copolymer, Stearalkonium Bentonite, Sucrose Acetate Isobutyrate, Citric Acid.

Louis Vuitton Le Jour Se Leve Perfume

I love this scent because of how fresh it is. Notes of mandarin and berries. Makes feel like I just got out of the shower. I love how there are sparkling notes to it whenever I move.
It’s one of my favourite summer scents. A bit pricey but well worth it since it has a higher concentration of perfume oils & less alcohol which makes it last well over after a good night’s sleep.

Notes:
  • Mandarin from Italy
  • Blackcurrant accord
  • Sambac jasmine
  • Incense and musk accords
  • Peony accord
  • Osmanthus

All these products are my favourites for Summer. I like to switch up my skincare every season, so watch out for my Fall/Winter choices!
