Friday Favourites

Image
Hey! Happy Friday! Here’s a look at my 5 faves that I have been reaching for and regularly used this week.  Share your favourites with me via email and I will feature them in my next my-fave post! DIOR PRESTIGE LA CRÈME MAINS DE ROSE This recently launched hand cream is described as the first Dior hand creme that combines the power of Rose de Granville micro-nutrients with rose fiber extract, rose wax and rose oil. Dior promises that this fluid balm envelops the hands and nails in the micro-nutritive and revitalizing power of the Rose de Granville. I just had to try it. When I tried this hand cream, I fell in love with the subtle floral scent. Not over powering but lingers nicely. My hands felt super soft and the dry winter skin immediately disappeared! After a couple of days, I saw improvement. My hands and nails were softer and silkier. We all have stubborn winter skin during the season and for me in particular, dry hands bother me. But this hand cream is worth to try and ...

Walking as part of a Healthy Lifestyle

12 Benefits of Walking What’s not to like about walking? It’s free. It’s easy to do, and it’s easy on the joints. And there’s no question that walking is good for you. A University of Tennessee study found that women who walked had less body fat than those who didn’t walk. It also lowers the risk of blood clots, since the calf acts as a venous pump, contracting and pumping blood from the feet and legs back to the heart, reducing the load on the heart. In addition to being an easy aerobic exercise, walking is good for you in many other ways.     (Link to my walking video on YouTube) The Benefits of Walking  1. Improve Circulation Walking wards off heart disease, brings up the heart rate, lowers blood pressure and strengthens the heart. Post-menopausal women who walk just one to two miles a day can lower their blood pressure by nearly 11 points in 24 weeks. Women who walk 30 minutes a day can reduce their risk of stroke by 20%, and by 40% when they stepped up the pac...

All about my Speedy 30 in Damier Ebene

Image
Link via photo  This bag is my first Speedy from Louis Vuitton. I wanted to have a versatile luxury bag that is also a great investment piece. I was contemplating between this style and the Speedy 30 Bandouliere in Monogram. I chose this one because the Damier Ebene is a favourite design of mine and it can go with dressy and casual outfits.  The design of Louis Vuitton's Damier canvas was invented by Georges Vuitton in 1888.  The pattern was reintroduced as the Damier Ebène in 1998, and it has been one of the biggest successes of Louis Vuitton since. Damier is the French word for “checkered” which explains the design. Although Ebene means Ebony or any neutral brown colour in French, it is also a word that means “uncountable” which then explains the multiple checkered count.  Although it is a common misconception that the Monogram canvas is the first LV canvas design, it is actually Damier that is Louis Vuitton’s first-ever signature canvas.  Mistaken for ...

YSL Toy Lou Lou Bag Review

Image
YSL Toy Lou Lou Crossbody Bag Compact. Minimalist. Simple. Versatile. Functional. Light. Everything a mom needs while out running errands - you know, grocery shopping, dropping off mail at the post office or driving kids around, picking up lunch or dinner, the works. A handy bag to carry - all in a day’s work. Only downside is I can’t fit in a large wallet. But I can still carry all my cards (including license & registration ) in YSL’s nifty and super pretty card holder.  It’s a good crossbody bag to carry around when a large tote bag is not easy to lug around when it’s +30c degrees outside. I alternate it with my Gucci Soho Bag.  It’s a good investment bag for the simple fact that it’s functional, excellent quality and comes with a warranty from YSL!  YSL Saint Laurent offers repair services for their products purchased from ysl.com, Saint Laurent stores and authorized retailers (Saks, Nordstrom) Contact their client services via email (official website)or vis...

Weekend Mini Market Trip

Image
A (half) day at Bountiful Farmers Market  We try to get out of the house on the weekends to take a break from our routine at home. Routine includes working from home and household chores. My youngest is off school till September so she does her music stuff. It’s amazing how much music stuff she learned on her own. My son works from home while I work on my online jewelry shops and creating new pieces. Anyway, that’s for another post.  This past weekend, we went to the Bountiful Farmers Market in Edmonton. (Market link via second food photo.) We love trying new food especially pastries but a specific bake shop we like is Mae Cusinera. (Link via first food photo.) Amazing what you can find on Instagram! Mae is the head baker and owner and she manages her market bake shop. She concocts these delicious Filipino breads and pastries with so much uniqueness that you can’t help but get addicted. My family loves her Ube and Cheese Pandesal as well as the delicious varieties of her Ensay...

Friday Five Fave

Image
I love this simple paper clip chain from my jewelry shop. I experimented with different lengths and this 18-inch piece is perfect for layering with other simple pieces or with a statement necklace. Linked via photo. This bag may be luxury, but it’s so functional especially for someone like me. Having this bag is like having a comfort blanket.  I need everything to be easily accessible.   Never want to leave any immediate essentials behind.  Linked via photo. Pistachio-crusted Salmon from The Keg Steakhouse.  Two of my favourite things to eat - Pistachio and Salmon. Good chemistry. Great recipe. Their own flavours compliment each other. Linked via photo Never too late to discover (or confirm) things about yourself. Great Q&A book to invest in. You’ll be surprised what you learn about yourself. Linked via photo. I have a soft spot for tees. It’s so hard to find the one that perfectly fits - not too tight, not too loose. It also helps when it’s from Anthropologie. ...

August Favourite: TOM FORD

Image
August Favourite: Tom Ford Makeup  Tom Ford is such a renowned name in the fashion industry. But all luxury makeup enthusiasts’ wishes came true when he launched his makeup line ten years ago in 2011. Since then, he has introduced us lucky ladies to colour palettes like Virgin Orchid, Honeymoon and most recently First Frost for eyes. We can’t ignore his lipstick collection either: Classic formulas in Casablanca, Insatiable, Exotic, Impassioned. My all-time favourite is Discretion. Since then, his collections every season have been unquestionably popular - mostly sold out even before they hit the stores. I have invested in a few key products this Summer.  This beautiful palette suits all skin tones! I especially love how the colours are prettified neutrals. Tom Ford eyeshadows last long and has taken me up to 12 hours on a normal summer day. The shades on any palette for that matter blend easily and seamlessly. No regrets . It’s worth every dollar.  TF lipsticks come in di...
