Weekend Mini Market Trip
This past weekend, we went to the Bountiful Farmers Market in Edmonton. (Market link via second food photo.) We love trying new food especially pastries but a specific bake shop we like is Mae Cusinera. (Link via first food photo.) Amazing what you can find on Instagram! Mae is the head baker and owner and she manages her market bake shop. She concocts these delicious Filipino breads and pastries with so much uniqueness that you can’t help but get addicted. My family loves her Ube and Cheese Pandesal as well as the delicious varieties of her Ensaymadas! There’s Sans Rival, Ube Halaya, Cookie Crumble, Dulce etc. Tried them all - can’t help it . And yes, they are now part of the food groups we keep in stock at home.
We also discovered melt-in-your-mouth cookies originally from Argentina by Cosas Ricas. Melt-in-your-mouth literally and ‘nuf said. Delicious.
There’s Hello Mochi that’s always sold out of their yummy delicious mochi donuts. (Hmmm gotta get to the market early so we can get some .)
Little Bear Ice Cream caught my kids’ hearts and tastebuds! Homemade ice cream by a local confectioner.
I started buying veggies and fruits locally instead of the grocery stores. Aside from helping local business and supporting local farmers, I love the freshness and the fact that they have NOT been picked before they are ripe, packaged up, sent on a shipping container and forced to ripen. No wonder I find some pieces are moldy and some are sour and stale.
